Almost two years ago I decided to have my hair cut short and colour it dark brown. This was the first time ever I felt the urge to make such a radical change to my appearance. The reason was mainly a strong desire for something new. Comments started pouring in and boy oh boy they were not good. I had so many complaints about ‘why I lost my beautiful blond hair’ to my favourite comment ‘you look so ugly’ from one lady after a concert. I had never taken my own hair this seriously and was confronted with the very real and dissatisfied reaction from my fans. This lead me to think more about the world I work in. Images and people’s visual perception of things around them – even music and artists – have become victims of this scrutiny. Was I not more than a look or hairstyle and did people not like my music for what it sounded like and not what I look like? After careful pondering I had to admit defeat and change my hair back to the blond colour I have called my own since I was 7. Thanks to the wonderful team lead by Gina at Palladium Hair Co. in Pretoria I have been pampered for the past 7 years. They are on top if international hair and beauty trends and make me feel so good whenever I visit the salon. With their help the required blond hair have been in good shape for my demanding fans to enjoy. Thanks Gina!
