The Charl du Plessis consisting of Steinway Artist Charl du Plessis (piano), Werner Spies (bass) and Hugo Radyn (drums) was formed in 2006 to emphasize the link between classical and jazz music. After 10 years of fruitful musical collaboration, touring extensively and performing on various stages in 3 continents this trio has become one of the leading exponents of cross-over music.
In July the Charl du Plessis trio will record their first international DVD release after signing with Claves Records in Switzerland. Leading up to the recording in the beautiful St. George Cathedral in Ernen, Switzerland the trio will tour South Africa and visit various cities and festivals.
Musikdorf Ernen has invited the Charl du Plessis Trio to perform in their international Baroque Music week since 2008 and has recorded two live albums during the festival. New cross-over arrangements of Baroque works by Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and others feature on this yearly concert which has become one of the most popular events at the 6-week long festival.
